The rate of employment for those aged 16-64 was down 0.1 percentage points to 71.5% for the period February-April 2013. This puts 29.76m over 16’s in employment, an additional 24,000 from November 2012 to January 2013.
Unemployment for the same period was unchanged at 7.8% of the economically active population. There are 2.51m unemployed, down 5,000 from November 2013.
Total pay in the year to April 2013 rose by 1.3% with regular pay rising by 0.9% compared to the previous year.
