Gary Newton

Director / Advisor

Beginning his financial services career as an account manager in 1986 with Standard Life, Gary moved to the Whitehead Group as an IFA in 1995.

Moving on to become a founding director of Chartwell in 2002, he specialises in providing bespoke advice to those approaching, or in retirement.

A keen Manchester City fan, Gary is married with two children and in the little spare time he has, also enjoys fishing, playing golf and cooking.

Richard Clarke

Director / Advisor

A founding director of Chartwell, Richard has over thirty years’ experience in the financial planning sector and has been actively advising clients on wealth management since 1993.

He works extensively with members of the legal profession, tax planning specialists and accountants in areas such as investment portfolio management, retirement, tax and succession planning for business owners.

A holder of the IFS Financial Planning Diploma qualification, Richard’s extra-curricular activities include music, skiing and travel.

Sandra Browne

Director / Advisor

Sandra heads up our Corporate Solutions Division and has over 20 years experience in the financial services industry.

Her particular area of expertise is the employee benefits sector, particularly Group Risk & Healthcare. She holds the Financial Planning Certificate & is currently studying for her CII Group Risk Exam. She will work with you to design & implement your employee benefits programme, making sure that you have the right policies in place for your employees. She will monitor the costs of your selected benefits to make sure they remain competitive and assist you with marketing the various schemes to your employees. Sandra’s team is always on hand to help you when you need guidance or need to make a claim.

Sandra joined Lindley Group Limited almost 10 years ago on a six month contract and liked it so much she is still here!!!

Her hobbies include her family, travelling and enjoying good food.

Christine Law

Senior Advisor

Christine has 22 years experience as an adviser and her Diploma with the Chartered Institute includes advanced exams in Pensions, Taxation & Trusts and Modern Investment Principles.

A member of The Personal Finance Society and the Chartered Institute, Christine works closely with other professionals, including accountants and solicitors, to provide clients with comprehensive expertise and advice on Inheritance Tax Planning, Wealth Management and Company exit strategies.

Time permitting, Chris likes to walk, cycle and ski but spending time with her family is top of her list.

Steve Simons

Financial Planning Manager

Steve joined Chartwell in February 2018 and has over 35 years’ experience in the financial services sector with most of that time spent in a client facing advisory role. Steve has recently been engaged in a more technical, paraplanning position providing support to our team of advisers whilst also taking up a compliance role.

Steve’s hobbies include wildlife, walking and music. He also enjoys travelling, particularly to the alpine regions of Slovenia and the national parks of India.

Robbie Newton

Junior Advisor

Robbie joined Chartwell in January 2016 as a Trainee Advisor. Over the last two years Robbie has covered aspects of all roles within the business mainly focusing on client servicing and administration within his first 12-months.

During this time Robbie’s experience and knowledge of the industry has excelled which has enabled him to move forward into paraplanning with the aim of becoming a fully qualified Planner within the next 18-months.

Robbie has so far obtained industry recognised qualifications through the CISI and is currently completing the CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
Robbie is a Manchester City season ticket holder and spends most of his free time following them. When they are not playing, he enjoys weekends away, walking his dog and spending time with family and friends.

Sue Rushton

Client Service Manager

With over 47 years working in the financial services industry in a variety of roles for major banks and life offices, Sue has unequalled experience as a financial adviser.

In her current role, Sue looks after all the servicing needs of Chartwell clients and takes great pride in delivering the first class service she believes is key to running a successful financial services company.

In her spare time, Sue likes swimming and walking, in between spending time with her family which includes visiting grandchildren in Australia.

Caroline Cook

Client Service Manager

Caroline has over 20 years’ experience working in the financial services industry in a variety of roles for major wealth management firms. This experience has enabled Caroline to develop a strong and knowledgeable administrative skill set.

In her current role, Caroline manages the servicing needs of our clients and takes great pride in delivering the first-class service she believes is key to running a successful financial services company.

In her spare time, Caroline enjoys spending time with her young family and her horse.

Thomas Hinds

Client Service Manager

Thomas is responsible for providing support to the advisors, serving as a point of contact for clients and providing account administration. Tom believes in simplifying the lives of the families that we work with, so they can truly enjoy the wealth that they have created.

Prior to joining Chartwell, Tom worked in China for a number of years as an equity analyst covering the Chinese retail sector. In addition to his love of travel and leisure, he enjoys spending time with his family.

Laura Petrie

Head of Group Pensions

Laura has worked in the Financial Services Industry for over 25 years and has a wealth of experience, particularly in the retirement sector.

She holds advanced qualifications in Pensions and specialises in Employee Benefits, in particular Group Pensions. She is also heading up our Auto Enrolment proposition for employers.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys travel and has a keen interest in music of all types.

Bill Bennett

Head of Group Risk

With over thirty years’ experience with some of the world’s largest insurers, Bill has experience of both the life office and adviser sides of the business, focusing mainly on the employee benefits market.

His main areas of expertise are group risk, advising clients on benefit schemes, income replacement, medical, dental and travel schemes for groups of directors or employees.

As a specialist in this particular area, Bill is well-versed in identifying errors in existing schemes and negotiating significant savings for his clients.

Kim Mann

Corporate Account Manager

Kim has worked in the financial Services industry since 2003 and has experience in the corporate solutions division. She holds qualifications in pensions and Group Risk.

Kim deals direct with clients and insurance companies ensuring the day to day running of the schemes are smooth and accurate. Her hobbies include horses, travelling and socialising.

Simon Daniels

Life Planning Consultant

Our specialist life planning consultant, Simon ran his own business for 27 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in this key area of financial planning.

Working collaboratively with clients, he likes to help clients establish their life goals and ensure that data is current and accurate within our planning software.

Outside work, Simon lives life to the full, enjoying golf, travelling and socialising in the pubs and restaurants of the region.

Arif Jamal

Trainee Paraplanner

Arif has recently joined us and is beginning to study for his paraplanning qualifications. He will be assisting Rob as Rob goes into a more client facing, advisory role. Previously working for Sir Bobby Charlton and his landmine charity, Arif then moved to within the financial services industry, specifically insolvency. He has a keen interest in the financial markets and especially cryptocurrency. Although he says it’s challenging and very in depth, he is working hard with his exams and qualifications and enjoys learning about topics that genuinely interest him.

Born In Dubai, Arif studied Philosophy and Ethics at the University of Leeds and is a keen traveller with family in East Africa, Australia and Dubai. He fancies himself as a skilled fisherman and joins Steve as yet another Liverpool fan in the office!
